Photo Essay Contest
Are you a high school student looking at attending college? Could you use a laptop to help you fill out applications and complete assignments?
What is a photo essay? A series of pictures alongside an original narrative which evokes emotion, presents an idea or helps tell a story.
Topic: How does Cesar Chavez’s ideals/movement relate to you and/or your family’s situation?
Available to: High School Juniors & Seniors who live in Mesa County.
Requirements:
- 3 pictures (no larger than 8X10) to demonstrate your topic.
- 1 paragraph narrative, per picture, to support the topic.
- Pictures and words should work together to address the essay topic.
- Include an introductory paragraph with pertinent background information to prepare the reader for the images and narrative to follow.
- Pictures and paragraphs should be free of profanity, nudity or otherwise offensive items.
- If you choose to find pictures, instead of taking your own, make sure to include proper citations for your pictures in a bibliography.
- Only 1 entry per student.
- Student must live in Mesa County.
- Narrative must be written by the student only.
- Submissions must be turned in by the deadline, late entries will not be accepted.
- Entry form must be completed in its entirety.
- Photo Essay will become the property of the Cesar Chavez Celebration and can be used on social media, website, posters, etc.
